Globe Outdoor Pendant Light | Caged Glass Porch Lantern, 3 Sizes
Vintage globe pendant light for covered porches and entryways
A clear glass orb, held in a cage of bronze bands and rings, hanging still on its chain while the light inside picks out every curve of the metal. It reads as something recovered from an old house rather than bought new — the kind of fitting that makes a porch feel settled the day it goes up.
The cage is not decoration alone. It gives the globe a defined shape after dark, so the fitting still has presence when the bulb is off and the porch is lit only by what spills out of the windows. Hung singly over a front door, or in a run of three down a colonnade, it does the same job at either scale.
Key Features
- A clear glass globe set inside a banded cage of cast aluminium, in aged bronze or black
- The LED bulb is included, so it lights the moment it is wired in
- The chain is adjustable up to 50cm, so it hangs right on a low porch or a double-height entry
- Rated IP54 for covered outdoor positions — porch ceilings, verandahs and entry porches
- A 360° beam angle, so light spreads in every direction rather than pooling straight down
- Three diameters and five pack sizes, from a single fitting to a run of eight

Front Door & Porch Lights
Common Questions
Wall lights are ideal beside a front door or on a porch with limited ceiling height. A hanging pendant creates a stronger focal point beneath a covered porch with sufficient overhead clearance. Consider the available mounting point, door swing and walking space before choosing.
Choose a fitting that feels proportional to the door and surrounding wall. A compact lantern suits a narrow entrance, while a larger wall light or pendant can balance a wide doorway or taller porch. Check the full height, width and projection shown on each product page before ordering.
Porch wall lights are commonly positioned with the centre of the fitting around eye level, approximately 165–180 cm above the ground. For a pair, keep both lights at the same height. Your installer can adjust the position to suit the door, steps and proportions of the entrance.
The right IP rating depends on exposure. A fitting beneath a fully covered porch may require less protection than one mounted where wind-driven rain can reach it. Check the IP rating and outdoor-use guidance on the individual product page, and choose a higher level of protection for exposed entrances.
Warm white light, generally around 2700K–3000K, creates a soft and welcoming feel around a front door. Cooler light can appear brighter and more functional, but may feel less relaxed. Always confirm the colour-temperature option available for the selected fitting.
Yes. A motion-sensor light can illuminate the entrance automatically when someone approaches, making it easier to find keys and improving visibility for visitors. If you want the porch illuminated continuously in the evening, choose a non-sensor model or check whether the sensor settings can be adjusted.
Most hardwired wall and hanging porch lights should be installed by a qualified electrician. They can confirm that the wiring, mounting point, ceiling support where required, earthing and weatherproof seals are suitable for safe outdoor use.
